Colonial Singers
The Colonial Singers is a select group of twenty-one young men and women in grades ten through twelve.
Dressed in authentic 18th century American costumes, the singers perform a wide representation of early music, both American and European. Songs of early America are represented in Revolutionary War anthems, folk hymns, and dance.
The Colonial Singers perform in various historical locations, such as Gadsby's Tavern in Old Town, as well as at nursing homes, community centers, hospitals, and countless school, community, and government functions.
Bella Voce Singers
The Bella Voce Singers is West Potomac’s newest women’s ensemble. The group is comprised of approximately 20 singers in grades 10-12.
Members of this advanced ensemble study and perform music of the highest quality, written and arranged for a chamber ensemble of young women who desire a musical and vocal challenge. Each singer is required to have excellent sightreading skills, and have prior experience and success in a choral ensemble.
Women's Ensemble
In this smaller ladies choir, emphasis is based on developing basic musical skills, vocal techniques, and working together as an ensemble.
The group may combine with the Symphonic Women's Chorus in concerts, along with the combined choral department selections.
Symphonic Mixed Chorus
This combined effort of men's and women's voices is comprised of more advanced singers, made up of ladies, grades 10-12, and men, grades 9-12. They perform a wide variety of literature for SATB choirs.
Symphonic Women's Chorus
The Symphonic Women's Chorus is an advanced female choir comprised of singers in grades 9 - 12 who perform significant contemporary and classical repertoire. This auditioned ensemble has quickly gained a wide reputation for excellence.
For the past two years, they have performed by invitation at Washington National Cathedral and have consistently received superior ratings at VMEA festivals.
In 2006 they received another great honor, having been chosen to perform for music educators from throughout the state at the Virginia Music Educator's Association Conference, held November 16-18 at the Homestead resort in Hot Springs, VA.
